Recipe Submission Terms
Share your recipe with confidence
Effective: August 11, 2026 — applies to direct custom-recipe submissions from InStock Kitchen for iOS v1.4 and later and Android v1.1 and later
These terms apply only when you use Share with InStock Kitchen to send a custom recipe to the InStock Kitchen team. They do not change the separate rules for sharing a recipe with a friend.
1. Your confirmation
Before submitting, you must confirm that the recipe is your own creation or that you have permission from the rights holder to share it under these terms. Do not submit recipes or photos copied from cookbooks, websites, other apps, social media, or another person unless you have the necessary permission.
You must be legally able to make this confirmation and grant the licence below. If you are not, a parent, guardian, or other authorized person should make the submission.
2. What you submit
A submission can include the selected custom recipe text, ingredients, cooking method, tags and related recipe fields, normalized ingredient information, and the recipe's hero photo if one exists. You may separately choose to include a full name and email address for follow-up. Contact information is optional and is not required for submission.
The submission does not include an InStock account, a device or installation identifier, your inventory, scan history, other recipes, or a source URL. InStock Kitchen does not automatically add a submission to the app.
3. Ownership and licence
You retain ownership of the rights you hold in the submitted recipe and photo.
By authorizing the submission—by tapping Share Recipe, or Share Once after the final Privacy Mode confirmation—you grant InStock Kitchen a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to review, reproduce, edit or adapt, translate, display, publish, and distribute the submitted recipe and photo in InStock Kitchen and in materials that directly describe or promote that recipe or the app.
This licence allows the team to normalize ingredients, clarify or shorten instructions, translate the recipe, reformat it for the app, crop or re-encode the photo, and make other reasonable editorial changes. It does not transfer your ownership to InStock Kitchen.
4. Review, inclusion, and compensation
Every submission is reviewed manually. InStock Kitchen may accept, reject, defer, edit, combine, or decline to use a submission for any lawful editorial or product reason. Submission does not guarantee publication, attribution, a response, payment, or any other compensation.
Submitted content is not sold as a standalone work and is not used to train AI models.
5. Contact information and attribution
If you opt in to provide a name and email address, InStock Kitchen will use them only to contact you about that submission, including questions, permission, edits, acceptance, withdrawal, or deletion. They are not used for accounts, marketing, mailing lists, analytics, authentication, quotas, enrichment, or public attribution.
InStock Kitchen does not publicly attribute a recipe to the optional contact name unless separate permission is requested and received.
6. Retention, withdrawal, and deletion
Pending submissions, optional photos, and optional contact information are stored privately for no more than 90 days unless the recipe is accepted into the InStock Kitchen catalog. Rejected or unselected pending submissions expire automatically.
If you included contact information, you may request withdrawal or deletion of a pending submission by emailing support@instockkitchen.com from the included address and identifying the recipe. Anonymous submissions contain no account, device, installation, name, or email identifier, and the app does not preserve or display a submission reference, so InStock Kitchen cannot reliably locate one anonymous submission for early deletion.
If an accepted recipe has already shipped, InStock Kitchen will make reasonable efforts to remove it from future releases when requested, but cannot recall recipe data already delivered in an older installed app version.
7. Content you may not submit
Do not submit content that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights; reveals another person's private information without permission; is unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, or abusive; contains malware or hidden data; or is unrelated to a genuine recipe submission.
8. Privacy and security
When Privacy Mode is on, the app asks for one-time permission before sending only that recipe to InStock Kitchen. The permission applies only to that submission, and Privacy Mode remains on for everything else. When you choose to submit, the content is sent over HTTPS and stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket for manual review. Ordinary connection data such as IP address may be processed by Cloudflare, but InStock Kitchen does not intentionally store it as a submission field. See the Privacy Policy for the complete disclosure.
9. Relationship to other terms
These terms supplement, and do not replace, any terms governing your general use of InStock Kitchen on your platform, including Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement for the iOS app. These Recipe Submission Terms govern only direct submissions to the InStock Kitchen team. If they conflict for that limited purpose, these terms control the submission.
10. Changes and contact
Material changes to these terms will be reflected by an updated effective date. The terms shown when you submit apply to that submission.
